USS Indianapolis

USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage tells the story of a tragedy that occurred during World War II. The warship USS Indianapolis was ordered to transport secret components of the first atomic bomb in June 1945. Because of its secret mission, the ship was reported missing only four days after a Japanese torpedo attack. Of the 1,197 sailors on board, around 300 drowned with the ship and the rest of the crew had to fight the sun, dehydration, salt water poisoning and shark attacks while waiting for help. Only 317 sailors survived the ordeal.
